One of the state’s top 2016 prospects OL John Simpson of Fort Dorchester went out of state Saturday for a spring game. Having been to USC and Clemson earlier in the spring, Simpson went to Florida to see the Gators up close. And before leaving, he was given an offer by the Gators giving him an even dozen to choose from.
“It was a pretty good visit,” Simpson said. “What really stood out to me was the commits they already have. Coach Mac (Jim McIlwain) is a good coach. I like his style. He’s a laid back coach. I wanted to see some of their practices so I might go to a camp this summer to see how they coach me up.”
Simpson doesn’t have any future dates set but he wants to see LSU and Tennessee. He talked to Clemson recruiter Tony Elliott Sunday but said he’s not heard from USC in a little while.
Simpson said he doesn’t have a current favorite but has a top five of USC, Clemson, Georgia, Florida and Alabama in no order.
