3 star WR Darius Slayton 6'1" 175lbs of Norcross, GA was among the prospects in Columbia Saturday night for the Georgia game. He got there a little later than he had planned so he didn’t have much of a chance to talk recruiting with coaches GA Mangus and Steve Spurrier Jr. But he knows the Gamecocks would like to have him and this visit helped the Gamecocks make their case.
“I like them, probably more than I did before, but not an exponential amount,” Slayton said. “It was a great atmosphere. It was unbelievable. The fans were hanging in there, cheering the first thru the fourth quarter. They create a lot of hype for their team.”
Slayton went into the locker room after the game and said most of his time among the coaches was spent with Mangus and Spurrier Jr. During the game he saw the Gamecocks throw the ball regularly and pass for nearly 300 yards.
“I would fit well in their system,” said Slayton who also plays cornerback. “I’d have a chance to do well there.”
Slayton said right now he’s not sure about his future plans and he wants to visit some other places. He would like to make a decision this fall. The other schools he’s still considering include Clemson, Georgia, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee and Florida. He does not have a favorite.
