Third baseman Elliott Caldwell (6-3 205) of Spartanburg Methodist JC committed to USC Sunday night for the 2013 class according to TheBigSpur.com. Caldwell chose the Gamecocks over offers from Clemson and The College of Charleston. Caldwell prepped at Wren and played his freshman season at Winthrop before enrolling this fall at SMC. He played in 30 games for the Eagles and batted .217 with no home runs and 1 RBI. This summer he played in the Prospect League and hit .388 with 7 home runs and 49 RBIs.
