So many examples of just how bad the ACC is in this article...

FSU is the most successful football program that they have..most succesfull baseball program that they have..and anywhere from real darn good to pretty good in just about every other sport.

yet they STILL lost $2.4 million dollars as a program last year.....

now in order to try and at least break even...the conference has had to give away the farm for a pitiful few extra bucks..including ownership of its crown jewel (notice the singular use there)...the ACC basketball tournament..now sponsored by ESPN for the first time in its history.

I mean think about it. They had to sell the basketball tournament and agree to playing football on Friday nights...sure to piss off high school coaches..in order to get more money for their football games...isnt that like a car dealer giving away a $10,000 diamond ring with every Kia sold ???

Of course, this article totally glosses over that aspect, and instead tries to make out that the fact that FSU is desperate for cash from anywhere and has probably had backdoor conversations with anyone who will listen in order to make more money is somehow a good thing...

They also totally mis report the facts and say that the school will receive an additional $17 million a year..when in reality that is the total they will receive in a year. Typical spin from an ACC school trying to compete witht he SEC

Florida State athletic director Randy Spetman addressed the rumors on Friday that his school was looking to join the Big 12, saying that the school is “committed to the ACC,” according to the Orlando Sentinel.

“We’re in the ACC. We’re committed to the ACC,” Spetman told the Sentinel. “That’s where our president and the board of trustees has committed to, so we’re great partners in the ACC.”

Spetman added: “I’m not out negotiating.”

The football program at Florida State is facing a $2.4 million budget shortfall and is looking for additional revenue, which is where the rumors about the Big 12 began, according to the Sentinel. But on Wednesday, the ACC and ESPN announced a new television deal that would bring each school an addition $17 million per year, according to the Sentinel.

“With the new TV deal, it shows some real positives for us to be successful,” Spetman said.
