Sour taste to this season has left my tank little empty

I love my college football. I look  forward to each year starting with fall camp to first game of the season.

This year has hit me harder then any other year. Has been to me one of the most disappointing season in memory, worst then Fat Brad last year here. and Lous 0 whatever in 1999. game by game has been like sticking a knife in my gut. Even counting the one bright spot Georgia.  Now I sadly don’t really give a rats butt.

Yesterday was football Saturday.  Just  cannot get into the games. Just doesn’t feel like a college football Saturday right now. As of now. I really have no hope for next week. There’s no bowl game. For all intents and purposes, the season is over.

This is so frustrating that we are sitting here staring at 4-8 record into Booms 4th season and knowing that most likely will be a repeat season next year, unless there are some big changes coming. Really the only hope I have. But I know come spring I will get excited again. Such is the cycle of life for being a Gamecock fan.

To your point, there is a large percentage of Gamecocks that feel like you do. I have been a fan for 39 years and this is the lowest point for me. If there are no coaching changes made before next season, expect to see a big attendance drop off at the games and a huge slump in booster donations.  Tanner simply cannot afford to do nothing.

Not my lowest point (that would be the 1-21 streak) but I am not feeling good right now. I do have enough in my tank to blow it out on Saturday, but I also want meaningful change in the off season.

I hear you!!

When you spend so much time waiting for "next year" to finally arrive, the realization that it isn't coming anytime soon easily puts a damper on the fire that burns within each Gamecock fan.

Suffering is good for the soul, right? It builds character, right??

Yadda, yadda yadda...

Sucky year.  Sucky sucky sucky. UNC was such a harsh and unexpected reality right out of the gate.  And then there was Mizzou, and then Florida, then Tennessee, then App State.  We had a  3 1/2 game stretch where we actually looked like a legit SEC team and then the wheels completely came off.  It’s hard to comprehend.  The injuries have got to stop starting next year.

They are hard to watch right now period. Don’t think any of us can dispute that. And to make matters worse it’s hard for me to see next year being much better.

Chit starts at the top and rolls down hill. We have a lemon in our mouths as a HC and some want to spit the seeds (Coordinators) out. The sour taste remains even though the seeds are cast away.

Just  so many ??????

I watched Missou play today. How did we lose to them? Same question from other games too. We looked great against Georgia so I know they can win. Just can't begin to figure what we were doing those other games we should not have lost.

Hoping we make a showing tomorrow and don't get blown out.

This is the most disappointing, depressing, frustrating season I can remember, and there have been some bad ones.  The reason this one is the worst to me, is because we SHOULD be good.  The other seasons we knew we sucked, and there was nothing that could be done.  This season, we had depth, we had skill players, and our head coach was saying it was his most talented team here.  UNC pissed me off, but I chalked it up to opening game jitters.  Then it got worse.  But then, as if by magic, it all clicked with the team, and we got better.  We played well, and there was still improvement that could reasonably made to make us even better.  It was exciting, and I wrote the beginning off to everyone not being on the same page until the Kentucky game.  And then the bottom fell out, and we sucked again, and we have continued to suck.  I have lost a lot of my interest in Gamecock football, and college ball in general.  However, I know that at the slightest glimmer of hope, I will be leaping to my feet to cheer and yell, to more than likely have them turn on me and punch me in the face, and kick me in the nuts.  And I will do it again, and again, and again.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the frustration. We know this team can be good. We beat UGA for crying out loud. Not saying we are top 10 good as a result. But we should be able to beat App state, Missouri and Tennessee, and UNC. At least 3 out of those 4. And should have beat FLa too. This team should be looking at 7 wins minimum. Maybe 8.

I don’t plan to watch the game today. I have more important things to do then watch Clemson hang 50+ points on us. As far as I’m concerned football season is done.

If this isn’t the worse, then it’s damn close.  Only exceeded by the expectations when we opened at home against TAM, or maybe the string of surrendering  of 14+ point leads in the 4th Q.  I think Dabo smells blood and a win streak of 6 is a huge badge to wear as a legacy.
