South Carolina commit Shawn Smith would like to play at Georgia with Bulldogs’ newest recruit
June 16, 2016
RUNSWICK, Ga. — Shawn Smith committed to South Carolina back in April, but his recruitment is not finished yet. Well, at least he doesn’t want it to be.
Smith, a 3-star wide receiver from Brunswick High School, is close friends and teammates with newest Georgia commit D’Antne Demery. Demery committed to Georgia Wednesday in a unique commitment video with DawgNation.
Smith, a 5-foot-11, 160-pound prospect said even though he’s committed to South Carolina, he’s hoping the Bulldogs pick his recruitment back up.
“You know, I wouldn’t mind going to play with my man big man D’Antne (Demery), Smith told SEC Country. “I wouldn’t mind going to Georgia and playing with him. Things can happen, so I just have to wait it out.”
The wide receiver received interest from Georgia under the team’s old coaching staff, especially from Gamecocks wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon, who held the same position with the Bulldogs.
He admitted that he would have been a Bulldog if McClendon stuck around.
“Oh yeah. No doubt,” Smith said. “I was messing with Georgia heavy. They were one of my top schools.”
In the video above, Smith answers the following questions:
