South Carolina highlights from the 1981 season UNC and NC State games

Here some highlights of when South Carolina beat third rank North Carolina 31-13 in Chapel Hill during the 1981 season.

I remember the nawth carolina game well. My Dad took us brothers up there. While riding up we listened to the unc radio station and all they talked about was the game coming up the following week. They were not worried about us one bit. Before we got into the stadium it was 7-0 Gamecocks. Reason we were late   We could not find the dang stadium. It was small and surrounded by tall pine tress. We could hear the crowd noise but we could not see it. We finally found a spot to park and walked towards the noise. LOL. After the game our Dad treated us to a steak dinner at the first dinner he could fine with a bunch of unc people in it. Great fun that was.

Gordon Beckham was 15 of 17....wow!

And his son plays second base for the Detroit Tigers now (after playing for a national championship in baseball at Georgia)
