Three-star RB Deshaun Fenwick (6'3" 210lbs), who’s ranked by the 247Sports composite as the No. 9 all-purpose back in the class of 2018, committed to South Carolina on Wednesday night.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound prospect from Braden River High School in Bradenton, Fla. also listed offers from Georgia, Missouri, Ole Miss, Texas and USF.
South Carolina running backs coach Bobby Bentley stopped by Fenwick’s school on Wednesday. Afterwards, they spoke over the phone and Fenwick informed Bentley that he was ready to commit to the Gamecocks.
“Coach Bentley, he’s a class-act,” Braden River coach Curt Bradley said. “He’s been great. He’s done all his due diligence. He’s done all of his homework and, most importantly, he’s done it all the right way. There’s people that do it the right way and people that don’t and he’s definitely one of the people that does things the right way.”
As a junior, Fenwick rushed 75 times for 755 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 278 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Fenwick rushed for 630 yards and 9 touchdowns over 98 carries as a sophomore.
With his commitment, South Carolina is now up to five for the 2018 cycle: wide receiver Darius Rush, center Hank Manos, guard LaMarius Benson and offensive tackle Maxwell Iyama.
