South Carolina leads for in-state LB
At the conclusion of his visit to Auburn on Saturday, 247Sports 4-star LB Channing Tindall told reporters that South Carolina is his leader.
“I love coach Muschamp,” Tindall said. “If I go to South Carolina, I could help change the culture and be with family.”
While that might not necessarily be considered breaking news, the order of the schools that followed is: Auburn’s second, ahead of Georgia and Florida, both of whom are tied for third.
“I still have to get to know them more,” he said of the Dawgs. “I feel like Georgia is a great school, but they’ve been having some off-the-field issues with their players, which set me back a little bit.
“Also I still have to build a better relationship with [inside linebackers coach Glenn] Schumann. They could come up. Just right now, at this point, they’re a little below the others.”
Tindall, a 2018 prospect from Columbia Spring Valley High, is the No. 1 in-state prospect in the 247SPorts solo rankings. Tindall is scheduled to visit Notre Dame this week and is also planning a return to Georgia.
Muschamp Camp offers
‘Tis the season for in-person evaluations and the South Carolina staff got the ball rolling on Saturday with at least three offers to prospects who attended the first day of camp.
Jamil Burroughs
C.J. Clark
Collin Duncan
Burroughs, a 2020 defensive tackle from McEachern High School (Powder Springs, Ga.), also lists an offer from Georgia.
Clark, a 2019 defensive tackle from North Stanly High School (New London, N.C.), has offers from North Carolina State and East Carolina.
Duncan, a 2019 cornerback from St. James School (Montgomery, Ala.), has an offer from Vanderbilt.
No offer yet
Heading into the weekend, 2018 Irmo (S.C.) High DE Trajan Jeffcoat was hoping to earn an offer at camp. He exited without that offer, but the door isn’t closed.
“[Outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson] told me everything that I have shown, show it on film,” Jeffcoat said.
Teammate and 2019 RB Kendrell Flowers also exited without an offer. Flowers, who played wide receiver as a sophomore, caught 11 passes in 2016. An offer could be his way down the road, but he’ll need to be more productive.
With his move to running back, Flowers will get plenty of touches in the fall.
