South Carolina-Missouri What can you say let's see

Sept. 22, 2019

Gamecock football dropped its second SEC game of 2019 and is now 1-3 overall, taking a 34-14 loss to the Missouri Tigers. (VIEW ARTICLE)

The offense was ugly as hell, but I still can't for the life of me figure out why Jay Urich isn't given an opportunity to paly at the QB spot. He has the height, the better mechanics, he's faster and there's really no tape on him.

The inexperience at QB was a glaring issue this game. 2 plays and this is a completely different ballgame.

The double pass where they gave Mizzou a TD. And the pick 6 when we were getting ready to score.

That’s 2 TDS for them and a missed TD or FG for us depending on how you look at it.

That’s 17-21 point swing right there on these 2 plays. I think Hilinski will be a great QB for us. But his inexperience showed and cost is this game. I don’t think Bentley would have made those throws.

I'm going to go out on limb here and say bc he's the 4th best qb on the roster, and if there's no tape on him, how can anyone make claims to how good he is. i feel your desperation here, but it's misguided hope.

The run game had moments but buckled at times. It was a historically ugly afternoon.

The run game did not have any moments. Yards Per play;

Travian - 5, 1, 6, 0, 2, 0     Rico - 3, 11, 1, 0, 1(TD), 1, 0, 0(fumble)

14 rushes for 31 yards from our RB's. Rico had a TD and a Fumble. Why did we throw the pass that turned into that Int. when it was 3rd and goal? Because prior to that play our runs that drive were for 1, 0, and 2 yards.

Not counting his sacks, Joyner had 6 rushes for 13 yards. Not counting his 2 sacks Ryan had the best YPC average. He made 5 on his one carry.

With that kind of a run game Ryan and Joyner HAD to try and pass, and Missou knew it. My issue goes back to coaching. Those runs of 5, 6, and 11 yards all came by going to the right. 90% of those other runs came from trying the middle or left side where Garrett was at. So why keep trying to run at where Garrett was at? Just poor offensive planning. It is just sad to have some really decent talent and the play calls seem so far off base.
