South Carolina moves the needle in Miami, offers several top area prospects

Making moves in MiamiThree-star running back commitment Kyshaun Bryan, who attends St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., told SEC Country he “heard” that the South Carolina coaches would stop by on Thursday.
Earlier this week, Bryan said he “heard” the Gamecocks coaches would be by on Wednesday.
The South Carolina coaches were active in Miami on Wednesday, passing out several offers to the area’s top talent.
Among the first recipients was 2018 3-star defensive end James Head Jr., the No. 18-ranked strong-side defensive end in the country.
Three-star linebacker Rosendo Louis also scored an offer from the Gamecocks. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect from Deerfield Beach High School also has offers from Georgia, LSU, N.C. State, Syracuse and Wisconsin.
South Carolina also offered his teammate, 2018 athlete Ashtan Pierre, a 6-foot-2 190-pound 3-star prospect.
Another offer was extended to Kayode Oladele, a 2018 3-star defensive end from Edison High School. The No 19-ranked strong-side defensive end in the country also has offers from Florida, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Temple.
Green considers the road less traveledThe recruiting path for William Green Jr. could be similar to the one taken by South Carolina defensive lineman Dante Sawyer and former Gamecocks commitment Javon Kinlaw.
Green, a 2017 defensive tackle from Westover High School in Albany, Ga., will decide whether he wants to obtain his GED and begin his college path at Jones County Junior College.
“Well, right now, I’m still deciding on that … I’ve got three weeks to decide on what I’m going to do, but likely I’m going to go to Jones,” he said.
Sawyer did the same at East Mississippi Community College. Kinlaw, who’s from Goose Creek (S.C.) High School, has been at Jones County since January.
Last month, Green (6-6, 275) took an official visit to South Carolina, his first college recruiting visit of the season.
“I mean, they showed my family some love,” he said. “They treated us right and everything. I liked that my family liked that atmosphere, so I liked it to.”
Defensive line coach Lance Thompson spent plenty of time with Green, the No. 50-ranked defensive tackle in the Class of 2017.
“Basically, (Thompson) was just telling me to stay on my grades and everything,” Green said. “He was telling me to stay on my schoolwork and all of that. Coach Thompson is a cool guy, man, cool person to be around, and he told me to be on my grades and all that.”
Georgia Southern, Louisville and Mississippi State have offered. Georgia is expressing interest, but Green said he hasn’t received an offer because of his grades.
As a senior, he had 34 tackles and 3 sacks.
