South Carolina offers cousin of former Gamecocks star Jadeveon Clowney

South Carolina is hoping college football stardom is in the family genes.
The school offered Jadeveon Clowney’s cousin, Demon, on Wednesday. He announced the news on Twitter.
The Gamecocks are just one of many Power 5 programs interested in Clowney, who plays at St. Francis Academy in Baltimore. Michigan, Georgia, Maryland and North Carolina are among the schools who have already offered, according to 247Sports.
Just like his famous relative, Clowney plays on the defensive line. South Carolina fans likely have some waiting to do before this Clowney, who is in the Class of 2020, makes his decision. His cousin was the No. 1 overall selection in the 2014 NFL Draft after spending three seasons with the Gamecocks.
Listed at 6-foot-4, 225 pounds already, Demon Clowney has a lot of room to grow. Based on the scouting report from his position coach, Sam Poggi, Gamecocks fans likely are crossing their fingers, hoping that Clowney will sign on.Poggi had this to say to Bleacher Report:
“If you hear his last name and you see him, that’s all you need to know. … They look alike, and athletically they’re very similar.
“He walks into a room, and he immediately catches everyone’s attention.”
The Houston Texans selected Jadeveon Clowney with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. During his three seasons with South Carolina, he collected 24 sacks, 129 total tackles and 9 forced fumbles.
