South Carolina offers former Auburn defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson

August 31, 2017

On Thursday, South Carolina offered former Auburn defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson, the stepbrother of Gamecock linebacker Bryson Allen-Williams.

Currently enrolled at Blinn College in Texas, Jackson signed with Auburn in 2016. According to Rivals, he was rated as a 4-star and ranked as the No. 9 defensive tackle in the class and the No. 98 overall prospect.

Ohio State and Alabama offered earlier this week.

Jackson (6-2, 303) redshirted during his only season at Auburn. As a senior at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Ga., he was a U.S. Army All-American. That season, he recorded 96 tackles, 52 tackles for loss and 12 sacks.

Ohio State is perceived as the favorite to land Jackson, who will have three seasons of eligibility remaining once he transfers from Blinn. SEC Country sources believe South Carolina will have him in for a visit in the not too distant future.

The Gamecocks have a 2018 commitment from cornerback Marlon Character Jr., Jackson’s former classmate at Auburn, who’s enrolled Northwest Mississippi Community College. South Carolina’s 2018 class also includes a pair of JUCO defensive tackles: Dantrell Barkley and Jabari Ellis.

With starters Taylor Stallworth and Ulric Jones set to depart at the end of this season, South Carolina has put a premium on adding defensive tackles who can make an immediate impact.
