Dec. 08, 2016
Shortly after news of Shawn Elliott’s departure was made official by Georgia State officials, South Carolina commitment Summie Carlay shared his thoughts.
Carlay, a 3-star offensive tackle from Laurens (S.C.) High School, committed to the Gamecocks in March.
On Thursday, as news broke that Elliott was leaving his post as offensive line coach, Carlay heard from coach Will Muschamp, who wanted to make sure he was “still good.”
“I told him I’m perfectly happy being a Gamecock,” Carlay said. “I’m happy for coach Elliott for getting the chance to coach Georgia State. I also trust that coach Muschamp will hire the best person for us to reach a championship level.”
Carlay, who’s preparing to play in the Shrine Bowl, will enroll at South Carolina in January.
