South Carolina RB commit: ‘I really believe’ Will Muschamp will change the program

South Carolina waited until the day after Valentine’s Day to express its love for Kyshaun Bryan.
That’s when the Gamecocks pulled the trigger on sending an offer to the three-star running back from St. Thomas Aquinas High School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.).
Bryan reciprocated the interest a few weeks later when he visited campus for spring practice. He returned on April 30 for coach Will Muschamp’s first cookout event in Columbia.
“Really, right when I stepped on campus, I had a feel for it — the second time that just set it off,” Bryan said.
Ranked the No. 27 running back in the class of 2017, Bryan committed to South Carolina during the cookout.
“The coaches were just real straight up with me and it felt like home,” he said. “It’s really family-based. I’ve got a really good opportunity to go up there and compete with some great backs, some great competition.”
Bryan would like to play a part in the program overhaul that’s underway in Columbia.
“He wants to change South Carolina — Coach Muschamp. As of the last few years, they haven’t really been doing well,” Bryan said. “He says I could be one of the players that could change the program, so just the recruiting class coming in 2017 and all the kids that he’s recruiting — the kids that are committed and some of the kids that are really thinking about it.
“I really believe that he’s going to change the program.”
The 5-foot-10, 190-pound prospect said there’s plenty to like about the University of South Carolina.
“It’s great. It’s in the city. I really like it. It’s a college area. It’s big and it’s spread out. I really like that,” Bryan said. “The facilities are great. Supposedly, my year going in, they’re going to change. They’re going to move some stuff around, so it will look even better, so that’s going to be great.”
In the meantime, Bryan is recruiting a couple of other 2017 prospects from South Florida, including his teammate, five-star wide receiver Trevon Grimes, and offensive lineman Corey Gaynor.
“I’m going to try to look for a couple of more guys … but those are two guys that they’re really looking at and I’m trying to get up there,” Bryan said.
During three seasons at American Heritage High School (Plantation, Fla.), Bryan rushed 197 times for 1,503 yards with 15 touchdowns.
