South Carolina recruiting notes from Williams-Brice Stadium
October 07, 2017
It’s another big-time South Carolina recruiting weekend as the Gamecocks host several official and unofficial prospects for the Arkansas game.
At least four of the prospects are committed to other schools. As expected, 4-star 2019 defensive tackle Rashad Cheney is in town for this afternoon’s game against the Razorbacks. He’s joined by Cedar Grove High School (Ellenwood, Ga.) teammate and fellow Georgia commitment Jadon Haselwood.
Haselwood, a 5-star, is the No. 1 wide receiver prospect in the Class of 2019. Overall, he’s No. 3.
Florida State commitment Israel Mukuamu, a 3-star safety from Bossier City, La., made it to Columbia for his official visit.
Tennessee commitment Dorian Gerald, a junior college defensive end from College of the Canyons, is in as an unofficial visitor. Four-star offensive tackle Dylan Wonnum (Tucker, Ga.) is, too.
The other official visitor, 4-star linebacker Dax Hollifield (Shelby, N.C.), has also arrived. He’s joined by family, which includes his brother, Jack, a 2021 defensive lineman.
Several of South Carolina’s 2018 commitments were spotted on the sidelines during pre-game warmups: 4-star quarterback Dakereon Joyner, 4-star wide receiver Josh Vann, 3-star wide receiver Darius Rush, 3-star linemen Wyatt Campbell, Maxwell Iyama and Hank Manos. Three-star defensive Rodricus Fitten, the first 2019 commitment.
Three-star athlete Bryce Thompson (Irmo, S.C.) was spotted with Joyner.
Four-star 2019 offensive tackle Michael Tarquin (Belleview, Fla.) was greeted by the trio of offensive line commitments, before the game.
Charlotte (N.C.) Christian teammates, 3-star safety Jeremiah Gray and 4-star quarterback Garrett Shrader, are in town.
