South Carolina recruiting update: Gamecocks gearing up for backstretch
Jan. 13, 2017
On Thursday, the first day of the contact period, the South Carolina coaches hit the ground running and visited with one of the top recruits left on their 2017 board.
Four-star defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw, who was once committed to the Gamecocks, visited with coach Will Muschamp and defensive line coach Lance Thompson. Before they flew out to Mississippi to see him, the two coaches visited with his mother.
Shortly after seeing the No. 12 overall junior college prospect in the country, Kinlaw announced that he would no longer take an official visit to Alabama. He is, however, still slated to take an official visit to Southern Cal this weekend. South Carolina will host him at the end of the month.
