South Carolina recruits land on Butkus Award high school watch list

Dax Hollifield and Channing Tindall, two of the top recruits left for South Carolina in 2018, are considered among the nation’s best linebackers.
Both landed on The Butkus Award 2017 High School Watch List.
Hollifield, a 4-star inside linebacker from Shelby, N.C., lists South Carolina on his list of five favorites, along with Florida State, North Carolina, Stanford and Virginia Tech. Hollifield (6-1, 220) is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 6 inside linebacker in the Class of 2018. Nationally, he’s 66th overall.
Tindall, the top overall prospect from South Carolina, attends Spring Valley High School in Columbia. Tindall (6-2, 213) is ranked No. 22 among the country’s 2018 prospects. Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Georgia are among those in contention with the hometown Gamecocks.
South Carolina saw Tindall again on Sunday and Hollifield is reportedly set to visit Friday, before heads back to Blacksburg for another trip to Virginia Tech.
Rosendo Louis, a 3-star from Deerfield Beach (Fla.) High School, is also on the Butkus list. The 6-foot-1, 225-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 24 inside linebacker in the Class of 2018. Arkansas, Florida State and Miami are among the other schools in the mix.
The Gamecocks have a commitment from 3-star outside linebacker Ernest Jones, a 2018 prospect from Ware County (Ga.) High School.
