South Florence QB LaNorris Sellers gets the offer from Gamecocks; what’s next for the Syracuse commitment

South Florence 3-star QB LaNorris Sellers 6'3" 217lbs will play in the biggest game of his high school career Friday night when his Bruins host crosstown rival West Florence. Both are unbeaten and the winner wins the region. There will be more big games for Sellers to come as his team moves through the playoffs.Off the field, the Syracuse commitment saw his recruiting take a turn Saturday morning when USC coach Shane Beamer called him and offered him for the 2023 class, one in which the Gamecocks have yet to add a quarterback.
“It was exciting,” Sellers said. “Everybody was asking and wondering why they hadn’t offered, then they finally offered, so it was exciting. He (Beamer) liked what I was about, how I was on the field and off the field, how I could produce in their offense.”
Sellers has been on the Gamecocks’ radar for a while. Quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield scouted him recently, and he visited USC for the season opener against Georgia State. And now that he has their offer, he needs to take some time and weigh that opportunity against what he has with Syracuse.
At the moment I really don’t know. I’ve still got time,” Norris said. “I’m not really sure what will happen. As of right now I’m stuck with Syracuse, but it is something to think about.”
Sellers talked with Syracuse coach Dino Babers Sunday night, as he does every Sunday, and he said the subject of the USC offer did not come up. He’s been high on the type of offense the Orange run, especially how quarterback Garret Shrader is a major running threat, just like he is. He also likes what USC is doing with their offense and sees a fit him there as well.
“They do like a pro-style scheme offense,” he said. “Really just spreading the ball around, getting the ball in the other plays hands is the main thing.”
Sellers plans to take an unofficial visit to Syracuse this weekend for the Notre Dame game. He’s already taken his official visit there. As for getting back to USC for one of their remaining home games, that’s up in the air depending on his dad’s work schedule. And he said he and Beamer have not talked about setting up an official visit.
Sellers said other schools showing strong interest are Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State, USF and Tulane. He plans to sign in December and enroll in January.
