South Florence QB LaNorris Sellers gives the latest on his recruiting situation
SPORTSTALK / December 6, 2022South Florence quarterback LaNorris Sellers capped a sensational senior season Saturday night in leading South Florence to the 4A State Championship over Northwestern for the school’s first title. Sellers completed 10-14 passes for 260 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushed for 192 yards and a score. He accounted for 452 of the Bruins’ 583 total yards.
Seller put on quite the show for the fans in the stands and the college recruiters located in the end zone. In particular, members of the Syracuse and USC staffs were present to watch his performance. Sellers has been committed to the Orange but is giving the Gamecocks a strong look and continues to be receptive to their outreach.
“They are still communicating with me a good bit,” Sellers said. “They had like five or six coaches out there Saturday. They all said I looked really good. They are still keeping in communication a lot.”
Tuesday Sellers and USC head coach Shane Beamer got together for a Facetime conversation.
“Just saying how I fit well in their offense and how he really wants me to stay home,” Sellers said. That’s really it. I’m not sure about an in-home visit but I do know that they want me to visit. I really don’t have an idea when.”
Sellers said Syracuse coach Dino Bamers and some staff members are scheduled for an in-home visit with him Saturday. That will be sandwiched between his appearance at the Mr. Football Award announcement in Myrtle Beach and his departure for the Shrine Bowl in Spartanburg.
The commitment to the Orange remains in place at this point.
“I still feel pretty strong about it really,” Sellers said. “But then again, you never know. Things can change, stuff can happen.”
Sellers finished the season with 2948 passing yards with 45 touchdowns, and 1338 yards rushing with 22 touchdowns.
