After many years of covering the career of Ray Tanner as the head baseball coach at USC, tonight we all had to catch our tongues as we referred to him for the first time as ”athletic director” at USC. Today USC President, Harris Pastides, officially introduced Tanner as the new head man of the athletics department in Columbia
Tanner has been the head coach of the baseball team since 1997, and has led the Gamecocks to 6 trips to the College World Series, including back to back national titles in 2010-2011. He also previously spent time in the AD offices while at NC State. Tonight Tanner explains to KMac and Pro why now was the time to trade in the cap for the tie. He explained his timeline for rounding out his staff, and also took time to explain his vision for the program moving forward.
