One month left until the spring game. So what do you think?

Is our team going to look way different yet or are they only going to be a little different?

How many changes can Bobo bring into play in just a little over a month practicing? Is our Offensive going to be a whole different show?

What about our D? How many changes do you expect?

I sure do hope after that spring game that I am super ready for the season. If they don't look that different, it will be really hard to get excited. I was excited last year and sure did get disappointed. I just hope that they are definitely a different ball team next month. I know they can only change so much in this short time, I just hope it is enough to make me a believer again.

What do you think we will see as the biggest difference next month?

I'm really just hoping and optimistically expecting to see some consistent success on offense. I'd also like to see us shift back to a clock-eating style of offense, but I dunno if that is something we'll see again under this staff.

I would think that the defense should be improved - we have talent and depth on that side of the ball, the staff is stable and our head coach is defensive-minded. The defense was as bad as anything on the team last season, so it also has room to improve as well. A solid defense that can contain opposing offenses can help young or inexperienced offenses, so we'll certainly need them to step up. Of course, the spring game will tell us nothing at all on how well our defense will be next season.

I would like to see a healthier and more experienced Hilinski execute better this season. We have some questions that need answering at the WR position, and of course Lloyd busting off big gains running with the ball would be nice to see too. But again, with the defense being handcuffed a bit in the spring game, it won't tell us a whole lot.

So overall I guess I don't want to see a ton of mistakes in the game, and don't want to see any major injuries during the camp, and I'll be fine....will still have all my questions waiting for answers when the season begins....

The thing that scares me about the defense is the most recent comments about focusing on creating turnovers. I seem to remember that being the focus not too long ago, and we were treated to plays where we spent so much time trying to knock the ball loose that actually making the tackle became an afterthought.

Hopefully we get better offensive prep and playcalling. Hilinski got forced in there too early, and hopefully he improves. But in particular, I'm not sure who is going to break out at WR. If you look at the top Offenses in CFB like Bama, Taters and LSU, they had speed to burn on the perimeter. That's complemented very well by a good inside run game. Idk if we have good enough athletes out there.

On D, the loss of Kinlaw looms large, so to speak. No way we'll make the move up to being dominant, but hopefully can be the kind of squad that keeps us in games.

If they score it's kind of a turnover.....right? Tennessee had a bunch of "turnovers" in that 2nd half thanks to tackling

Think our O, if it’s serious about changing the system, should install a ton in 15 practices.  Most colleges or even HS for that matter, install the vast majority of their offense in first two weeks of August.  I’d think with the spaced out practices of the spring, that they should be able to meet and review extra and install a lot without a problem.

I think our under center run game should open up some big pass stuff for Hilinski.  Under center sets up better play action looks than shot gun does.  So if we run the ball well, we should see easy chunk pass plays off play action.

This^^^^ It killed me that we did not take advantage of putting Deebo in motion more often, the value of putting a man in motion are exponential to an offense IMO From the ability to define the type of defense and weakness of that defense but that is a ton to ask of a true FR. We should have the base offense perfected by the spring game and start inputting specialty plays for players as well as formation wrinkles over the fall. Having the QB under center with a veteran FB hybrid in Prentice in the system should help the QB and the RB immensely, I believe you will see Bobo get the RB in space in the passing game this year using 2 back sets and play action

With the QB under center you should also see plays with 2 RB in at one time. You put Harris and Lloyd back there together, the D will have murder trying to figure it out. Back when I was coaching HS ball, I loved to play that way. You wear them down with some running plays and then on your play action, you keep one RB back there to protect your QB. It just made sense to me to play that way but your OL has to block good because the QB can only back up so fast. Great for us, both of those RB can make D miss them and break open some big runs.

IMHO...

I think QB play with a healthy Hilinski will be improved, and having a couple of other guys who hopefully remain healthy for depth is a huge plus.

OL should be a bit better. But Stanley is going to be tough to replace experience wise, some young guys are going to have to step up.

RB, don’t have a lot of depth but I like our potential. And Prentice at FB is experienced and supposedly a good blocker.

The entire defense should be better. We’ll miss Kinlaw and Wonnum, but overall I think we’ll be improved. Ernest Jones is a rising star. And most people probably forget that our two most experienced DB’s last year were true Sophs. The guys like Cam and Shiloh who didn’t get much PT last year have a year in the system to get acclimated.

Weakest link I think is WR. Legette came on last year, but looking at the returning guys I’m not optimistic, they don’t seem to be the game breaking guys that other programs have. Hopefully a couple of the new guys show up ready to play.

In hopes but doubt there is a spring game.
