During the SEC teleconference today, Coach Spurrier was asked if he finds it a challenge of explaining to people why using one quarterback could be advantageous.

Spurrier said, “I think every coach in the world would love to have one quarterback that is completely the best and everybody knows he’s the best quarterback you got. When you have two or three of maybe equal ability and no one has stood out above the other, why not give them all? Give everybody a chance. That’s called coaching. People say I was accused of jerking quarterbacks. But when I did it, I had a second guy that I though was maybe just as good. If one was having a bad day, then put the other one in. Obviously, we’re in a situation here where Dylan is by far is our best quarterback. If he throws five straight interceptions, he’s going to stay in the game. So it just depends on how the coaches looks at his players. If he feels they’re all pretty equal, hey, give ‘em all a chance. That makes sense.”
