USC coach Steve Spurrier is still extremely disappointed with the way his team played in last night’s loss to LSU, but he said that loss doesn’t change the importance of the Gamecocks upcoming matchup at Florida.
“Even if we had somehow lucked up and won the game, we still got to beat Florida”, Spurrier said Sunday. The Head Ball Coach said his former school has it going right now and said Gators coach Will Muschamp deserves coach of the year of the job he has done to this point.

- On the injury front, running back Marcus Lattimore has a bruised hip that will keep him out of practice a few days, but Spurrier expects he’ll be ready for Florida this weekend. Defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles has a sprained shoulder and is questionable for the matchup with the Gators. J.T. Sarratt has a sprained ankle.
- Spurrier said LSU dominated them on both sides of the ball on the line of scrimmage.
- Spurrier said he was disappointed with the way a lot of guys played against LSU and said he won’t hesitate to make changes if need be.
- Spurrier said some of the players “acted like they were afraid of LSU” and got “smashed” against the Tigers.
- Spurrier said Connor Shaw “struggled” against LSU. He said he took off running a little too soon on a few plays.
