Spurrier says Lattimore still has a football future (AUDIO)
USC football coach Steve Spurrier visited injured running back Marcus Lattimore Sunday morning, and on his conference call Sunday afternoon, Spurrier said he believes Lattimore will be able to continue his football career.
But, Spurrier said it is possible Lattimore could miss the 2013 season while rehabbing the major knee injury he suffered in Saturday’s win over Tennessee.
“Marcus, with the way Dr. Guy described it, a little bit what TJ Gurley had where the knee sort of pops out of place, a dislocation. They got it back in quickly, thought. Dr. Guy felt pretty good that it was in quickly. It’s going to take a while, obviously, to recover and rehab this. Marcus had a good attitude today. We saw him and talked to him. He knows what the road ahead is and we’re all hoping and praying that he’ll be back. Since he wasn’t redshirted he has two years to play one. Whatever the time frame of this knee requires, I think we’ll have to wait and see according to Dr. Guy. Optimistic that his football days are still ahead of him. There’s been history of guys coming back and playing from this type of knee injury according to Dr. Guy.”
