“We definitely have to change some special-teams guys,” Spurrier said. “We can’t watch the other team run back to the 40-yard-line every game. It’s embarrassing to all of us. We’ll evaluate our personnel and get some new bodies out there.”
He also said “Inexcusable. That shouldn’t happen. It affected the whole team. When you fumble the ball and give them touchdowns three times in the first half, that’s hard to overcome because we’re not a great offensive team. We don’t throw it very well. And, obviously, we’re not running very well right now.”
Lay this on on the special teams fumbles - we could have recovered after the Shaw fumble if it weren’t for the other ones that deflated the sails.
I’m still concerned about 8 years down the road and we’re still not a good offensive team. Is it that we’re losing the recruiting battles for the best talent? Or is there something else?
Have to say I’m disappointed with D.L. Moore - dropping catchable (although difficult) balls in crucial situations. He had one in the 2nd quarter last week that would have been a big boost.
