Drake’s official visit to Tennessee
On Thursday, before 3-star offensive tackle Jerry Drake Jr. departed for an official visit to Tennessee, South Carolina offensive line coach Shawn Elliott stopped by Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) High School.
“He texted me and said he was coming down to see me,” Drake said. “Actually, when I was taking the (official) visit, he told me he was coming down to see me.”
South Carolina hosted the 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect the weekend of the Texas A&M game.
This past weekend’s trip was his second official visit.
“It was good. All that I saw, I liked it,” Drake said. “Their campus is just crazy. It was like something that you’ve never seen before. They have so many fans; they had 50,000 just at the Vol Walk.”

Drake was noncommittal when asked if one visit was better than the other.
“I kind of liked them both,” he said. “I don’t really like one over the other one.”
Tennessee coach Butch Jones and offensive line coach Don Mahoney made good impressions.
“They said how they needed me and coach Jones is a pretty cool guy. I ate dinner over at his house,” Drake said. “I like coach Mahoney; he really seems like he knows what he’s talking about; he has a lot of history and stuff. He seemed like somebody who would correct me on something I do wrong.”
Drake said it will “be determined” whether he takes any further official visits. He’s also unsure of where they would be.
For now, South Carolina continues to be in favorable position ahead of Tennessee.
Moore’s unofficial to Tennessee
Less than a week after his de-commitment from South Carolina, 4-star offensive lineman T.J. Moore took an unofficial visit to Tennessee this past weekend for the Alabama game.
SEC Country reporter Jesse Simonton caught up with Moore on Monday night. Here’s a snippet of what the prospect from Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte, N.C., had to say:
“I’m just really taking visits. I want to take all five official visits. I just want to see what school best fits me. I’m not in a rush to hurry up and commit again because that’s why I made the wrong decision the first time when I hurried up and committed. I didn’t have everything together.”

Moore plans to take an official visit to Tennessee, but he’s unsure of the other four, including South Carolina.
Miami, Ole Miss, Florida State, Louisville and Colorado State are among those that have recently reached out.
Trapp set to take official visits
According to a tweet from Lou Bezjak of The State newspaper, South Carolina basketball coach Frank Martin will host an official visitor this weekend.
Trapp was offered by the Gamecocks late last month.
New offer out
On Monday, South Carolina offered 2018 athlete Kavosiey Smoke, a 6-foot-1, 210-pound prospect who fits the mold of an Alabama running back.
His highlights certainly speak to that:

South Carolina joins Florida and Cincinnati on Smoke’s offer sheet.
It was worth mentioning ‘Bama since, well, he’s from Wetumpka High School, which is about two hours from Tuscaloosa.

South Carolina will host one of its 2017 commitments for an official visit this weekend. Three-star offensive tackle Dennis Daley tweeted the news on Monday night.

Daley, who’s originally from Ridge View High School in Columbia, S.C., is currentlyenrolled at Georgia Military College. When he’s done there, he’ll have three years to play two.
The 6-foot-6, 280-pound recruit is ranked as the No. 32 ranked junior college prospect in the Class of 2017.
Three-star defensive end Matthew Butler confirmed to SEC Country on Monday night that South Carolina defensive line coach Lance Thompson stopped by Garner (N.C.) High School on Thursday night to see him play.
Butler took an unofficial visit to Tennessee this past weekend. He’s listed as the No. 26 strong-side defensive end in the Class of 2017.
Phil Kornblut confirmed SEC Country’s report that 2018 4-star athlete Jordyn Adams will visit South Carolina on Saturday for the Massachusetts game.
The son of former assistant Deke Adams, who’s now on staff at ECU, Adams took in the Gamecocks win over the Pirates. However, he was not an unofficial visitor for the South Carolina coaches.
Adams is ranked as the No. 17 athlete in the Class of 2018 and the No. 6 overall in-state prospect.
