Originally from nearby Irmo High School, Shuler attends Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. As a junior, he averaged 10 points and 2.4 assists.
Shuler is the No. 72 ranked prospect in the Class of 2017, according to 247Sports’ composite.
Skinny: South Carolina, Southern Cal, Western Kentucky, Louisville and Oklahoma State are set to receive official visits. If proximity to home is a factor, the Gamecocks certainly have a leg up on the field.
No movement with SmithAnother report from Kornblut updates the latest on 4-star WR OrTre Smith, who’s set to decide Sept. 11.
South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Clemson and North Carolina remain his finalists.
“I’m talking to every coach here and there,” Smith said.

Hollifield looks ahead to fall visitsDax Hollifield, the No. 2 inside linebacker in the class of 2018, visited South Carolinalate last week to watch practice. He hopes to be back in Columbia later this fall for a game. One of the games he hopes to see is against Western Carolina.
Hollifield’s grandfather played football at Western Carolina. Since he’s from nearby Shelby, N.C., Hollifield has been to a lot of games in Cullowhee over the years. His father played at Wake Forest, so he’s been there plenty of times, too.
This fall, he’s already scheduled to travel to Virginia Tech for the Miami game Thursday, Oct. 20. Two days later, Hollifield will head to Penn State for the white out against Ohio State.
No more IMG in GeorgiaOne of the most highly-anticipated high school football games of the season is later this month when Grayson plays host to the IMG Academy.
Grayson, which is located in Loganville, Ga., is home to 4-star CB Jamyest Williams, who’s scheduled to announce his commitment a few hours before kickoff against IMG.
According to Will Hammock of gwinnettprepsports.com, it will be IMG’s final game against a Georgia High School Association school.
Norcross High School athletic and activities director Kirk Barton, who’s a member of the GHSA’s Executive Committee, said there’s mounting concern over the number of players recruited to IMG out of Gwinnett County high schools.
“(IMG’s) got five kids from Georgia, I know several of them, if not all of them, are from Gwinnett,” Barton said. “They can actively recruit, come up here and recruit kids. We want to protect our kids. It won’t go into effect until next year, but they won’t be able to play in the state of Georgia. Other states have already done this and we just followed suit.”
