Standout North Carolina offensive tackle says five schools lead for his commitment

Two schools from the SEC and a trio of ACC programs are heavily involved with the four-star offensive tackle from Mallard Creek High School (Charlotte, N.C.). One of those five is expected to be the landing spot when Moore announces a decision around the start of his senior season.
“I would say that I have top schools, but the people that lead right now are Tennessee, South Carolina, (North Carolina) and NC State … and Virginia Tech,” he said.
Moore has teammates committed to three of those schools. Offensive lineman Eric Douglas is pledged to South Carolina. Grant Gibson, a defensive tackle, is headed to NC State. Wide receiver Ryan Jones is committed to North Carolina.
All three are recruiting Moore to their respective schools, but Douglas is the most persistent.
“Every day, he sends me text messages. He calls me. He FaceTimes me … it’s every day. It’s at least every two hours out of the day,” Moore said. “I’ve blocked him. I block him once a week.”
Douglas isn’t afraid to tug on Moore’s the heartstrings.
“He tries to make it emotional like, ‘Come on, bro. We’ve been doing this for four years now and you’re going to leave me.’ I don’t know what he does, but he does it on purpose and it gets to me,” Moore said. “I hate it. He tells me that he wants me to come, wants me to play with him.”
Moore weighed in with thoughts on four of his top schools.
South Carolina: “Coach (Bobby) Bentley, he’s the man. He stays with me and makes sure I’m good on and off the field. He checks on my grades, talks to my coaches. I can talk to him about anything. When my grandma passed away, I talked to him about it and I liked it a lot.”
Tennessee: “I went to that spring game. it was 65,000 people. It was crazy. Everything is nice, the facility, the coaches. They’ve got their own little lunch room in the facility. It was crazy. Then, Coach (Larry) Scott, I talk to him a lot. He’s very cool. We talked a lot at the spring game, before the game.”
NC State: “I want to major in mechanical engineering and they have one of the top engineering programs. I really like that a lot.”
UNC: “If I don’t make it to the league, I would definitely be good in my career.”
There are a handful of factors that will be considered as Moore moves through the summer.
“Good engineering program, good coaches, good team, good community (and) people I can be around for four or five years,” he said.
