3 star Dillon QB Avery McCall 6'2" 200lbs is regarded as the state’s #1 quarterback prospect for 2016. He will go into his senior season with a chance to become the first four time state champion quarterback. Last season he passed for nearly 3000 yards with 36 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Despite all of that, McCall has been passed over by USC and Clemson who have already taken quarterback commitments for 2016.

“I guess that’s who they wanted,” said McCall who is now focusing his attention on out of state schools. And after attending NC State’s junior day last weekend, he calls the Wolfpack his favorite.

“The coaches, and it’s a good environment,” McCall cited as reasons he likes State. “They seem to be real interested. Their offense suits me. It’s someplace I could play.”

McCall also has offers from East Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, LSU, Ohio State, Duke and Old Dominion. He is planning to attend future junior days at East Carolina and North Carolina.

McCall said he doesn’t have a timetable on a decision. He currently is playing basketball for the Wildcats. A former baseball player as a shortstop and pitcher, McCall said he’s also considering returning to that sports this spring.
