Stepp has Gamecocks in good position with Georgia receiver
Sportstalk / May 25, 2022USC receivers coach Justin Stepp has made a big move with WR CJ Adams (6-3 210) of Mableton, GA. He brought Adams in for the spring game in April, and he’s been the only recruiter to get Adams to schedule an official visit this summer. He is set to return to Columbia on June 24th and is excited about his second exposure to Gamecock Nation.
“In South Carolina, they don’t have a sports team like an NFL team, and I was like, the fans like football real good,” Adams said. “The stadium was almost packed out for the spring game. It was crazy.”
Last season Adams caught 56 passes for 1000 yards and 17 touchdowns. He knows that Stepp likes what he could bring to his receivers room.
“My will to play and how good of an athlete I am to him,” Adams said. “He likes my physicality, my ability to run and move and play-make. I would fit good in their offense because all they do is throw the ball. I would fit great into the offense. And coach said if I do go to the school, I’d be more like an ATH, an all-around the field type of guy.”
Adams added that he and Stepp continue to communicate and develop that coach-player bond.
“Me and Coach Stepp have a good relationship. He’s cool. I consider him to be very passionate about his job.”
Adams said Kentucky and UAB are two others that are strong with him at this point, but he doesn’t have any other visits planned for the summer. Some of his other offers are Duke, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Cincinnati, Purdue and Maryland. He doesn’t plan to make a decision until December.
