South Carolina will try to avoid falling victim to the dreaded “trap” game Saturday when the Gamecocks travel to Lexington to take on Kentucky just one week before hosting 5th-ranked Georgia. The Gamecocks are coming off an impressive victory over Missouri, and look to continue the momentum from that performance.

Head coach Steve Spurrier said his team has had a solid week of practice thus far, nothing special either way, and likes the way his team is looking heading into the weekend. Last week most of the questions centered around the health of quarterback Connor Shaw, and he answered those questions with his play against Missouri completing 20 straight passes, a streak he will take in to Saturday’s contest.

USC will try avoid being upset for the second straight time in Lexington, as the Wildcats beat the Gamecocks there in 2010, which was the last time South Carolina has lost to an SEC East team. Kentucky brings in a 1-3 record and may be starting true freshman quarterback Jalen Whitlow, a top-10 quarterback in his class last year, if starter Maxwell Smith can’t go.
