Multiple SEC coaches have been weighing in on their varying interests in recruiting Penn State players. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, normally among the most candid coaches in the league, told ESPN that the Gamecocks are not on looking to raid the program.

“We're not actively recruiting any Penn State players,” he said on Tuesday afternoon.

Spurrier did say that he would be open for discussion if any Nittany Lion players contacted the program about the possibility of joining his program. He mentioned that South Carolina could potentially take one player if the opportunity did present itself.

On the topic of his own team, Spurrier touted the progression of two of his offensive stars – running back Marcus Lattimore and quarterback Connor Shaw. He said trainers have reported to him that Lattimore's ACL should be 100 percent at the start of fall camp. As for Shaw, Spurrier assured that there would be no revolving door at quarterback in 2012 with the progress he's shown.

“He's clearly our quarterback,” Spurrier told ESPN. “Connor is a good leader. His dad is a head high school coach and he's just all football and going to class and doing the right things. We hope Connor can certainly stay healthy and help lead our team to as big a year as possible.”
