Someone help me out please. By my calculations we have the following group of RB's:

Lattimore

Wilds

Miles

Carson

Davis

Blue

Lowery

J. Baker

Of these I would say the first 4 are "game ready" starters and would also add Davis to that. My question is this; only one RB can play at a time and that is an awful lot of talent to waste just setting on the bench. So....

What are the chances some of these red-shirt (who) and who plays on special teams (returning kick-offs)?

ALSO - can any of these play another position?

Did Coffee get a medical red-shirt? If not who plays FB and could Wilds slip in as a FB?

Can anyone be used in a reciever roll?

Oh and does Ellington add to the mix or is he just basketball this year?

Thanks to all who answer.

I doubt Blue, Lowery or Baker play a whole bunch as walk-ons but there's a ton of talent in that top five you listed. The only one I could see as potentially redshirting would be Wilds but I kind of doubt that happens after he played so much as a true.

Davis was one of the top 10 RB prospects in the country and he didn't come to USC to redshirt, so I think it's going to be hard to keep him off the field. I could easily see him pushing all the way up to No. 2 on the depth chart by the end of the season.

Shon Carson will provide a nice change-of-pace as a quicker back and could also factor in on special teams as maybe one of the "up" return men, but I doubt he wins the job as the actual kick returned. I'd give that edge to Bruce Ellington, Vic Hampton and Damiere Byrd.

It looks like some of that talent will be wasted at times, but that's a good problem to have. Also, look to last year when Carolina was literally down to its fifth running back by the Tennessee game. They've built. at that position, the kind of legit depth that SEC Championship contenders need to have.

Lowery can play WR, but again I doubt he gets much PT.

Coffee went on a medical hardship scholarship and is no longer on the team. Qua Gilchrist looked very good at fullback in the spring until he got injured and is likely the starter there. I think it's pretty likely you'd see Wilds on the field some in two-back sets, but I doubt he makes the full move to fullback.

Can anyone be used in a reciever roll?

Doubtful, other than Lowery.

Ellington is in the mix as both a receiver and returner.
