Take Two: Can South Carolina grab Cartavious Bigsby?

June 05, 2019

With five-star Arik Gilbert being moved to the tight end position, that means Cartavious Bigsby moves to the No. 1 spot in the athlete rankings, and it’s definitely warranted since so many teams are still chasing him and he's such an asset all over the offense.

One of those teams is South Carolina and things got a whole lot more interesting in the game of dominoes that is recruiting when the Gamecocks landed a commitment from four-star running back MarShawn Lloyd in recent days. South Carolina has been considered one of the top schools - if not the frontrunner - for Bigsby for some time, and he was back in Columbia this past weekend. The idea remains the same - that the Gamecocks want two running backs in this class and that Lloyd and Bigsby would be the home run. (Read full article click) FREE ARTICLE FROM Gamecockcentral

If the staff has wanted two RBs all along, and Tank was favoring USC all along to where he's been referred to as a silent commit for around a month, then one would think that the staff has sat down with Tank and explained how they want him to fit into their class, and how he's going to be part of a two-back class for 2020.

So seems like, if Tank had any issues with it, he'd have had them for some time now. Maybe he wasn't expecting Lloyd to be the 2nd back, and he thought it'd be a lesser-regarded back like Gibbs or someone else, and there wouldn't be great competition. Who knows.

Reports are on other sites that Bigsby attended a 7on7 event at UGA or in Athens, and was told by UGA coaches that he's being recruited now as a RB. Seems he was being recruited at another position first. Hopefully it is too little, too late, as UGA is also targeting other RBs in Evans and Milton...
