TE Luke Chilton gives an update on what he’s hearing from the Gamecocks

SPORTSTALK / November 2, 202

1667392046654.pngTE Luke Chilton (6-7 240) of Fredericksburg, VA continues to talk once a week with USC tight ends coach Jody Wright. The call usually takes play on Thursday night. Chilton has not yet been offered, but he’s hoping one of these calls from Wright include the opportunity to join the Gamecock program.

“He told me that he thinks I can play at Carolina,” Chilton said. “If I had to guess, it would probably be as a preferred walk-on. I think if it was a scholarship (offer), that would have already happened by now.”

Chilton made his first visit to USC last month when the Gamecocks defeated Texas A&M. He arrived at Williams-Brice Stadium around mid-afternoon and walked around to see the facilities before settling into the stadium to watch the game.

“It was awesome. I loved the environment. It was really cool,” Chilton said. “From the start, I really liked the environment. Every time they scored a touchdown, they play that song and wave the towels. I thought that was really cool. They used tight ends more than I expected which I thought was really nice. It was just a good experience.”

Chilton plays his games on Saturdays, so that’s limited his opportunity to get out to see college games this season. He has also been to Virginia Tech, VMI and Towson this season and wants to visit William & Mary and Temple. Duke and Air Force also have expressed some interest in him.
