USC has positioned itself well with a number or prospects who are still mulling over decisions. One of those is DB TJ Carter (5-11 175) of Nashville. His offers include USC, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Memphis, Louisville, Mississippi State and Cincinnati.
“South Carolina is really at the top of my list,” Carter said. “I’m really liking them a lot and I want to get down there and take another visit. I feel like I’ve got a good relationship with the coaches, Coach TRob, Coach Muschamp and Coach Bentley.”
While Carter has the Gamecocks high up on his list, he doesn’t want to call them, or anyone else for that matter, a clear number one at this point.
“I’m looking at them the hardest,” he said of USC. “There’s a number of schools that I still want to go visit but South Carolina is up there with the schools that are my top schools.”
Some of the other top ones are Louisville, Georgia Tech, Memphis and Auburn.
The Gamecocks saw Carter in a camp in Nashville earlier this summer and from that viewing drew the conclusion Carter was worthy of an offer and would be a fit in their secondary.
“They say I can play one on one coverage and can cover real good,” Carter said. “They like how physical I am. I can come up and play run. I can play nickel and corner so I’ll probably move around a lot in the secondary.”
Carter has been to Memphis and Louisville and he’d like to get to USC as well, possibly for an official visit. Carter said his decision will be coming soon, possibly around the start of the school year.
“Opportunity,” Carter said when asked what’s important to him in choosing his school. “Playing time is a big part for me. Somewhere where I’m going to feel comfortable playing the next four years. I want to major in sports medicine so my major is a big part.”
Last season Carter had 25 tackles and broke up 11 passes. He also rushed for 1074 yards and 10 touchdowns.
