“After much prayer, thought, and consideration I am excited to announce that I am going to use my last year of eligibility to play at the University of South Carolina!” Harvey wrote. “Thank you to all the universities and coaches that showed interest in me. Thank you to my family that helped me through the process of making this tough decision. I can’t wait to get to Columbia to see what this season holds! Spurs up!!”
Harvey played his first three seasons at Texas A&M before redshirting in 2017. He will have one year of eligibility remaining in Columbia and as a graduate transfer is eligible to play immediately.
The Gamecocks are getting the rarity of an extremely talented and experienced player within the SEC as Harvey switches from the West division to the East.
During his career in College Station, he played in 38 games and recorded 109 total tackles. Harvey also defended 15 passes and had 1 interception.
He also has some experience returning punts, bringing one back 73 yards for a touchdown in 2016.
