The Bonham Trophy is in South Carolina at least a version of it. Before Shane Beamer’s weekly press conference Tuesday, the award was brought in and displayed for reporters inside the interview room of the Gamecocks’ operations building. The trophy is given to the winner of the Texas A&M-South Carolina matchup. This is the first time the Gamecocks have had it in the building.
History
The Bonham Trophy is named after James Butler Bonham, who graduated from the University of South Carolina and fought in the Battle of the Alamo.
How to see the Bonham Trophy
The one in South Carolina will be on display in the Columbia area for two weeks at a to-be-determined location, Saluda County Historical Society spokesman Richard Burton Peterson told The State. After that, the replica is on display at the Saluda County Historical Museum, about an hour west of Columbia and the USC campus. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
