The Gamecocks could retain a key piece of its offense next season

Dec. 07, 2021

Senior wide receiver Josh Vann is expected to return to the Gamecocks in 2022, according to a USC source. Vann also turned down an invitation to play in the 2022 NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, according to a report Tuesday, from Phill Kornblut of SportsTalk SC, citing an NFL source. Vann, a fourth-year Gamecock with another year of eligibility due to relief given to NCAA athletes in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, was one of 19 USC football players who walked on South Carolina’s senior day Nov. 27.

He has not publicly commented his plans for the coming year. Coach Shane Beamer and The Gamecocks face North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Dec. 30.

Would love to see Vann come back and I think it would help his NFL draft stock if he has another good season.  We need a QB that can get him the ball more consistently.

All of a sudden, a three-wide of Vann, Antonio Williams and Landon Samson has some intrigue ... so now we just need to sew up Antonio this weekend. Make it happen Shane!
