I started to post this little gem on the Countdown thread, but decided it would be okay with its own thread.

This is a restored WW2 Navy training film for flight deck personnel.  Each sailor wore a color-coded uniform that designated their role on the flight deck team.  Not much has really changed over the years.

A couple of takeaways from the film:

  • Know your job and do it well because your life and the lives of your fellow shipmates depend on it.
  • Know where you are at and where you are supposed to be at all times (the same as the playbook in football).
  • Have faith in what your supervisors tell you to do because they know more than you do and are looking out for you and your fellow shipmates (listen to your coaches).
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the required communication (know what the signals mean).
  • Know and accept your role and do it well.
