The impressive story of 5-star RB Quavaris Crouch

December 14, 2017

The South Carolina recruiting efforts are focused on the 2018 class, but there’s this 2019 5-star running back from right up the road named Quavaris Crouch.

He’s the top player from the state of North Carolina and the Gamecocks have a legit shot to land to sign him during next year’s recruiting cycle. Of course, they’re in the mix with several of the nation’s premier, including Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Michigan and Ohio State.

Crouch, who was recently named Gatorade North Carolina Player of the Year, rushed for 3,246 yards 33 touchdowns during his junior season at Harding University High School in Charlotte, N.C., to go along with 51 tackles and 14 sacks.

Harding also won the North Carolina 4A state championship.

While Crouch is certainly a big reason why, there were number of super talented players on his team, including 3-star offensive guard Jovaughn Gwyn, who’s considering South Carolina and North Carolina State.

Crouch’s older brother, Malik Dunlap, is a 2018 defensive back who’s committed to N.C. State. Quarterback Braheam Murphy is committed to play for Army. And several of their teammates from the 2019 and 2020 classes will also so on to play at the next level.

Below is a well-put-together story from Sporting News on Crouch, his teammates and their coach Sam Greiner, who guided Harding to its first state title since 1953.
