The latest on Hamsah Nasirildeen’s contact with Florida State; Matthew Butler has three in mind

South Carolina commitment Hamsah Nasirildeen met with Florida State running backs coach Jay Graham before the end of contact period this month.
“I was actually sick,” Nasirildeen said, “But (Graham) came by my house.”
Graham, a former South Carolina assistant, also is from Concord, N.C., Nasirildeen’s hometown.
“He’s the only coach that’s from Concord. That speaks for itself,” Nasirildeen said. “When (coaches) talk about, ‘Who are you playing tonight?’ I’m telling them a school and I know a lot of the other coaches, when I’m talking to them, I’m just saying some words to them.
“When I tell coach Graham I’m playing Central, he’s like, ‘Oh, man, you can’t lose to Central.’ Because he went to Concord.”

Nasirildeen took an official visit to Florida State in the fall, so there’s a little more to his interest in the Seminoles than his lead recruiter, though Graham certainly plays a significant part.
“That and the relationship with the players at the school,” Nasirildeen said. “I like the school all-around. It’s a good program.”
But make no mistake, the 4-star safety feels strongly about the coaches he’s committed to play for in college.
Nasirildeen lit up on Monday when asked about South Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson.
“The honest, active — that’s just the only way I can describe him: honest and active,” Nasirildeen said. “He’s always moving around, talking, but he isn’t going to lie to you. He’s just going to tell you what’s up.”
Muschamp, he added, is just as honest, though Nasirildeen laughed while admitting that the head coach’s level of activity doesn’t match his defensive coordinator.
Nasirildeen was reassured by his decision to commit to the two coaches when South Carolina clinched a bowl bid, after opening the season with a 2-4 record.
“They got a lot better, fast, so that was a good sign … you’re showing that you’ve got a good plan for what you’ve got to do,” Nasirildeen said.
The Gamecocks coaches will host Nasirildeen for an official visit in January. A return to Tallahassee, Fla., doesn’t appear to be in the cards.
Plus, Nasirildeen is recruiting for South Carolina.

Three-star defensive end Matthew Butler counts Nasirildeen among his recruiters to South Carolina. It’s a pretty strong contingent of prospects from the state of North Carolina that he hears from.
Offensive tackle Eric Douglas does “a little bit” of recruiting.
“Also, guys like Jaylin Dickerson, he’s hitting my phone,” Butler said. “Hamsah has been hitting my phone and stuff like that.”
For Butler, who’s from Garner, N.C., his interest in South Carolina lies with Muschamp, a renowned defensive coach with a track record of sending players to the NFL.
“It would probably just be Muschamp being defensive-minded,” Butler said, when asked about his attraction to South Carolina.
“He wants me and I want to play for a good head coach. I want to play defense — I want to make it to the NFL. I understand that it takes work and coaching and focus and your brain, all of that.
“I’m just looking for the school that’s going to help me accomplish all my goals, on the field and off the field.”
South Carolina is one of six schools that Butler recently listed as a finalist. Tennessee, Duke, N.C. State, Penn State and Texas A&M were also included in the group.
However, Butler said there are three schools that he has in mind.
“I can’t make a bad decision,” he said. “Those are all really great schools in their own aspects. … I guess comfort with the coaching staff and a peace like, I can believe in these guys.”
