On Thursday, just a few days after he de-committed from Alabama, Aaron Sterling went on the record with SEC Country reporter Chris Kirschner.
The No. 18 ranked strong-side defensive end in the Class of 2017 was presented with his jersey for the Under Armour All-America game at Tucker (Ga.) High School on Thursday morning.
Since his de-commitment from Alabama, which came on the heels of an unofficial visit to N.C. State, Sterling said he’s heard from Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Sterling spoke with Kirschner about a number of topics, including his de-commitment from Alabama, his interest in South Carolina and what’s next in his recruitment.
Another confirmed visitor
Three-star TE Zach Sheffer visited South Carolina in June for one of the first sessions of Muschamp Camp.
The 2018 prospect from Nease High School in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. has offers from South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee and Michigan.
“I’m still checking out all of the schools that have offered me. I haven’t been able to go to all the schools yet, so that’s what I plan on doing, going to schools and seeing how I like it,” Sheffer told SEC Country in the summer. “I don’t know when I’ll make a top list of schools, but I do know South Carolina will be up there.”
Sheller is the No. 16 ranked tight end in the country.
Gamecocks offer 2020 running back
On Thursday, South Carolina joined North Carolina, Rutgers, Temple and Toledo by offering 2020 RB Blake Corum.

- “Talking with my mom and dad, mainly the main people involved in my recruitment, we all came to the conclusion that Alabama wasn’t the right place for me. I just felt like I didn’t want to go to Alabama anymore. You know when you get one of those feelings like in your stomach? I just felt like (Alabama) wasn’t the place for me.”
- “Do you remember Dominique Easley? (The Gamecocks) want to use me that way where I play defensive tackle, nose, defensive end. They want me in a variety of roles because I can play both defensive tackle and defensive end. It seems like they’re going to market me better by playing every single position on the defensive line. When NFL scouts come and ask, ‘Can he play this technique?’ They’ll be able to see it on the film.”
- “Georgia wants me at the 3 and 5 technique. N.C. State wants me to play both defensive end and tackle. South Carolina — same thing. They are going to have a little package for me that I can drop back in coverage and have a little fun.”
