As a program that has achieved back to back 10 win seasons for the first time in school history, beating our rival 4 times in a row ( something that hasn't been done since most of us were alive) and holding an 8-1 record against the old " big three " would seemed to have built a brand image for our University by this point in time. Yes I know we are basking in the glory of the best years of Gamecock football history but in this day and age Football has become a business on the collegiate front and NFL level.

I bring up a point of brand imaging because one thing that kills me over and over again is who we are to the perception of the rest of the nation. Are we "SCAR" like ESPN loves to refer us to? Are we USC , although we have lost in the courtrooms with Southern Cal? Are we Carolina which I will always refer to us as a true Gamecock, but yet you leave the state lines and it all but assures anyone that you are talking about Chapel Hill?

Our marketing department at the University has more to work with than almost any other college in the nation. I don't know budget numbers because I don't have access to that information, but what I do know is that if you told me your university has Steve Spurrier , Frank Martin, Ray Tanner ( now AD ) and Dawn Staley ( a prominent figure in women's basketball) you would think you would want to capitalize on that image as a University through media outlets such as ESPN, magazines commercials etc.. I would pay any money needed if necessary to get us on a ESPN commercials like UGA, BAMA, Southern Cal, A&M ( I know they won the contest) LSU and any other program who gets the constant exsposure these programs do on 30 second basis throughout the year.

Give me Steve Spurrier at Williams Brice leading a sand storm for the student section give me a visor throw at the college Gameday crew for messing up in a segment. Heck just give me Spurrier saying "click clack" on an under Armour commercial all Christmas long I really don't care.

Last thing I will say is that our University has a chance to make a huge splash for our Program with Jedeveon Clowney who more than likely will be the 1st overall player taken in the 2014 draft, a player who kids all across the nation want to aspire be like. Get his face on as many billboards commercials etc.. that it takes to let everyone know he is apart of the University of South Carolina and this is where he chose to play his college football. Just give me a brand image we can stand by as a University because at this point in time we have more to work with than we have ever imagined.

Lets let the nation know that it's Great to be a Gamecock
