Wow. The Shane Train is pulling into the station ...

Success will be all about who he gets as his coordinators. I'd be on the phone to Derek Mason right NOW.

Get some good coordinators Shane and hit the recruiting trail.
That's it ... if he could bring in two coordinators who let him focus on steering the ship, keeping the lights on, and recruiting the $%^& out of the Southeast, we know he is good at that, it's his strength.

The story on ESPN said that Ray was going for a complete culture do-over and searching for new energy and ways of doing things ... and that is why Beamer is coming.

Agreed on all counts. Now just deliver, Shane! Connor staying on board is a great first step.

Eddie Gran just got fired at UK. Would be great to have on staff somewhere, but I'd keep Bobo at OC over him. Riley still the top choice IMO.

I would think no coaches would be retained, if it’s a full blown culture reset.

We have never had any luck hiring non power 5 coaches, hot shot assistants, or failed coaches.  However the past does not necessarily predict the future.  It is also possible that Shane can do for us what his dad did for Va. Tech.  That will be my hope going forward

Unless that coach is a direct link to the culture you are going to be trying to establish. Plus, he's a direct link to the 5-star QB that would be a huge building block to moving forward.

Beams will need to work on keeping current players as well as recruits; Jammie reportedly posted something on Twitter about leaving after the game last night, then pulled it down right after. Let's hope it was just frustration.

I agree. I would love to keep Connor.

The biggest drop, looking at coaching tenures as a whole, between SOS and CWM, was in two key places IMO: the secondary and at wide receiver. The new regime will need to work hard to fix those two, as we are a  long, long way from Gilmore/Swearinger and Alshon/Tori/Ace/Bruce.
