TheBigSpur reports UCF grad transfer catcher Dallas Beaver has committed to USC Gamecocks

June 19, 2019

The South Carolina baseball program added an experienced college hitter who has put up big numbers at another major program. UCF graduate transfer Dallas Beaver committed to the Gamecocks over the weekend when he was on a visit to see the program.

Beaver played and started all 58 games for the Golden Knights last season and hit .316 with 12 home runs, 44 walks and 56 RBIs. He played all over the field starting 23 games at catcher, 16 at first base, 10 at third base and nine as the team’s designated hitter. In conference play, he hit .295 for the Golden Knights. He also recorded a team-best 18 multi-RBI games. (VIEW FULL ARTICLE) 247SPORTS FREE

Beaver replaces former JUCO commitment Luis Avile, who de-committed and is now committed to Tulane. Beaver will be a good fit in giving relief to Berryhill behind the plate - he can play there, and also 1B, 3B, and DH. Clarke, the other catcher on the roster, can also platoon at 1B if needed. The SEC is another world entirely from any other college baseball conference, but hopefully Beaver can continue his hot hitting, and help the Gamecocks step up in a huge way from our paltry hitting last season...
