There's another Markway Gamecocks will check

TE Kyle Markway was a standout for USC in his final season of 2019. Markway caught 31 passes for 349 yards and 2 touchdowns. In December the St. Louis native decided not to take advantage of a sixth year of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. There’s another Markway at the tight end position coming down the road, and that road could also lead to Williams-Brice Stadium.
Mac Markway (6-4 240) of St. Louis is a cousin of Kyle’s. He is in the 2023 class meaning he is going into his sophomore season. As a freshman, Markway started for the largest 6A school in Missouri and helped lead De Smet Jesuit to a state championship.
His recruiting is just starting to take off, and the midwestern area programs are highly involved. But the family history with the Gamecocks is strong and they will be a factor
“My family loves Coach Bentley,” Markway said. “We will be visiting, but not sure when just yet. I am visiting four schools in March and a few more this summer. I cant wait to meet coach (Will) Muschamp and coach (Joe) Cox. My family loves the Gamecocks. The entire Markway family has had a great experience with Kyle and South Carolina.”
Markway has several visits lined up in the weeks ahead, and he’ll be getting a good look around the Big 10 neighborhood. He’ll also take a trip down to the south part of Florida.
“Visiting Michigan. They offered me as a tight end. Coach (Jim) Harbaugh is very cool,” Markway said. “Visiting Miami. They love me as tight end. Visiting Penn State for tight end. . Love how they use tight ends. Visiting Notre Dame for tight end. They love there tight ends. Visiting Iowa. My dad was a tight end there. They like me at a couple positions.”
Markway said he had 7 catches and scored 2 touchdowns last season. MaxPreps named him a First Team Freshman All American.
