College Top 25:
April 16, 2012
DURHAM, N.C—Florida State stayed at No. 1 in the Baseball America College Top 25 rankings for the second straight week after handling Boston College on the road to improve to 16-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The top three in the rankings stood pat from last week, as each of Florida State, Texas A&M and Kentucky won their weekend series but went 2-2 on the week, though Kentucky did impress by winning its series on the road against then-No. 11 Arkansas. With Arizona, which ranked fourth last week, dropping a series to UCLA, Louisiana State bumped up to No. 4 and Florida rejoined the top five, giving the Southeastern Conference three top five teams.
Oregon made the most significant jump of the week. The Ducks won a series on the road against No. 14 Stanford and moved up eight places to No. 8, the program's highest ranking since its revival in 2009. Fellow Pacific-12 Conference squad UCLA was also rewarded for its series win against Arizona with a six-spot jump to No. 11.
The back end of the rankings mostly held steady, as most of the teams took care of their weekend series, including Sam Houston State and New Mexico State, which were playing as ranked teams for the first time.
The staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of April 15 and do not include ties.
