Thompson says Gamecocks' big leaders going into January visits

SPORTSTALK / January 4, 2023

1672843207702.pngDillon OT Josiah Thompson (6-7 290) is one of the elite talents in the 2024 class, not just in the state but nationally. His offer list includes the in-state programs along with national names like Alabama, Notre Dame, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida State, Miami, Texas A&M, LSU, and Michigan State among others.

Thompson said Tuesday five schools stand out the most to him at this point. He listed those five in order at USC, Clemson, Georgia, Alabama, and Miami. Thompson adds the Gamecocks hold a commanding lead on the field right now, like a ten on a scale of ten.

“I’ve been in contact with the Gamecocks since my freshman year,” Thompson said. “I knew I was going to be able to fit in with the school. And it’s a lot closer to home for my family and me. Plus, the Coaches are amazing.”

The next step in the process for Thompson is junior day/unofficial visits this month. He will go to Tennessee on January 14th, USC on January 21st, and Clemson on January 28th. He added that there’s no timeline for a commitment.

Thompson has visited USC and Clemson in the past and he went to Miami’s spring game last year. He’s also been to Alabama. Thompson also camped last summer at USC and Alabama.
